Knittripps suggested that we would REALLY be ready for the holidays once we did our annual family cookie time. After several years of Spritz cookies with a couple of evil cookie presses I decided that it was time to tackle our Grammie's Divinity Recipe and put my Pizzelle Iron to good use.
I scoured the internet to find what I thought would be the yummiest pizzelle recipe. We ended up using
Pupa's recipe, I am quite pleased with the results. This recipe makes a huge batch (5 dozen plus) and with the iron only stamping out 2 pizzelles at a time, we were in for the long haul with these! Well worth the effort though. This might be a staple for us.

As for the divinity, we had some lessons to learn. I was the only one who had actually made divinity before with my grandma, and it was at least 10 years ago. I bought a nice candy thermometer from Williams Sonoma to help us on our way. Unfortunately, we did not have the thermometer placed correctly into our mix and our first batch was a big bust....we totally burnt it. YUCK! But, we tried again and found that one of the lessons of divinity is that patience is key.

I got a little overzealous this year with the vanilla in the divinity, but it was still a good first attempt. My Mom & Aunt with be taking some for my Grandma to try tomorrow and we will hear the true verdict on how we did :) Not State Fair quality Divinity yet, but we will keep at it!

Side note: The divinity pics are in complete reverse order with the picture above being the first part of the process.

As always, we did have a little helper for some of the festivities to keep us entertained!
